My next pasta workshop…

Is Friday, November 15th at 2:30pm at Vinum Locus, a new wine & tapas spot that just opened up a few months ago in Ocean Beach. I am SO excited to be hosting this workshop at Vinum Locus because it is quickly become my friends and my favorite weeknight spot to go for a glass of wine (or two) and enjoy they’re incredible cheese plates, fresh made bread and other small homemade bites!

In the workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own fresh semolina pasta from scratch, from kneading your ball of dough, to hand forming your pasta using a variety of pasta tools & textures… And you get to enjoy a glass of wine & antipasti on the house! PS this Southern Italian pasta happens to also be vegan friendly :)

*Price also includes a jar of my favorite small batch sauce from Not Your Nonna’s Sauce Co to take home & enjoy with your fresh pasta!

Your choice of: Classic Marinara, Zucchino Fresco, Arrabbiata, Pesto, Pesto di Piante (vegan) plus two seasonal favorites - Fallin For Cucuzza(Butternut Squash & Sage) and Pumpkin Spice Pesto (Vegan & Nut Free)

You can find more info & sign up HERE!

&& if you can’t come to this workshop my next one will be mid January, it’s already in the works!

Book a private pasta party or team building workshop this holiday season…

Pasta parties make the best holiday parties! Whether it’s with co-workers for your holiday get together or team building event or it’s with family and friends for a holiday party, there’s nothing better then ending the night with a fresh homemade pasta dinner!

For my private parties, I come to you - and it includes a homemade sauce that I’ll make in front of you to pair with your pasta! I’ll also cook everything up so it’s ready to be served to you - all you have to worry about is how much pasta you want to put on your plate! See my offerings & schedule your party here!

For my private workshops & team building events, I also come to you! Sauce tutorial is not included due to it sometimes being in an office, but you have the option to add on a Not Your Nonna’s small batch sauce to bring home to enjoy with your pasta or if it is in someone’s home, then I’m super flexible and can make a homemade sauce add on available! Find more info & inquire about your event here!

I’m super flexible with all of the above and also have add ons available like a charcuterie board, dessert, etc. so if you have something special in mind, I can probably make it happen!

My San Diego FAVES

Now for my favorite pasta spots in San Diego…

So if you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my absolute favorite homemade pasta spot in San Diego is Cori in North Park - Cori Pastificio Trattoria is the full name of the restaurant and the chef, Accursio who opened it just about 5 years ago is just incredible all around! His food is next level and just so thoughtful - every single dish that comes out feels like so much work and thought went into it - like a piece of art!

I mean Accursio even won the Barilla World Pasta Competition in 2017 with a dish that is on the menu at Cori right now! But every single dish I have had at Cori has blown me away - it’s one of the most unique Italian restaurants I’ve been to because the menu changes seasonally to really highlight and showcase the best ingredients of that particular season. One thing that remains always on the menu that you absolutely have to try if you visit, is the Fritelle appetizer which is filled with Cacio e Pepe - omg… I don’t think we’ve been to Cori and not ordered it. Truly incredible!

So as you can tell, I just love everything about Cori! Plus I’ll never forget when Accursio first opened Cori, he gave my husband, brother & I a tour around the kitchen, his pasta tool setup (which gave me inspiration for mine at home!) & pasta machines because he knew of my pasta Instagram - it was such a cool experience that I won’t ever forget!

My favorite non-pasta spot…

We have a few but Hunter and I have been going to The Joint Sushi in OB nonstop - almost every time we go out! If you’re into sushi and haven’t tried the Joint you should definitely give it a go - if OB isn’t too annoying to get to ha! But I promise it’s well worth it - The fish selection and quality is absolutely incredible. We almost only get the Nigiri these days because it is just such amazing quality fish and SO delicious. They’ve done a ton of changes to the menu, keeping some of the classics but also adding a ton more to the mix!

We usually get…

The Sunomono Salad which is the most delicious asian cucumber salad - like I could eat it all day.

The Salmon Trio which is a special with three types of Salmon Nigiri for a fraction of what it would cost - that one is my personal fave on the menu, the salmon is just delectable. And then we also usually get a trio of Bluefin Tuna - Akami (Lean), Chu-Toro (Medium Fatty) and O-Toro (Fatty).

I always get the Dre Roll which is like if a Philadelphia Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll had a baby and added a jalapeno in there… Hunter likes the California Roll which I’m not usually a fan of but I love it at The Joint because it’s REAL CRAB!

My favorite date night spot right now…

Another great spot that we’ve been to a couple times recently and has such a good date night vibe is Le Coq in La Jolla. You may have seen my post recently about our visit :) the chef sent out a number of dishes that were just incredible! It was 8 courses at least & we were STUFFED but everything was sooo good - and we're not even usually into French food but it has a modern spin on some of the classics. Everything we had from the cocktails to the apps to the mains to the desserts were exquisite! So if you’re looking for a bit fancier spot to try out, I highly recommend and hopefully you get our server, Sokol who made our dinner extra perfect! You can see everything we had HERE and find more info about the restaurant & book a reservation here! PS the second time we went, we had the Onion Tart, and oh my gosh it was incredible. Could have each had our own it was so good!

That’s all for now - Hope you all have a wonderful November!

Best, Katie

Peace Love Pasta ✌️❤️🍝
